During that time, I developed extensive expertise in trial preparation, legal research, document drafting, and case management. I also served for more than 18 years in federal court as a judge’s assistant, further strengthening my organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
Today, I combine the precision, organization, and management expertise gained throughout my legal career with my passion for renovation, design, and organization. Whether managing a renovation, reimagining a workspace, or creating functional and aesthetically pleasing interiors, my goal is to provide clients with a stress-free experience and results that exceed expectations.
I take pride in building lasting relationships with my clients through professionalism, integrity, clear communication, and a dedication to quality in every project I undertake.
Home Design and Management
Sylvia was born to parents who had relocated in the United States from Europe. They were art lovers and design aficionados. She grew up in homes on both the West and East Coast which contained the best of mid-century design. Her father was the first prominent scientist to research the effects of Global Warming. Thus, the family was frequently traveling all over the world, especially to Europe, because of her father’s professional obligations. Their furniture was specially made for them by a design studio in Copenhagen. She spent her childhood, accompanied by her mother, visiting various museums and design centers all over western Europe. From an early age she learned to create beautiful contemporary interiors. One of her parents’ passions was the Japanese garden. Their enthusiasm was limitless and caused them to take an active participation in all their design projects. Sylvia, along with her parents, dug trenches, planted trees, created garden beds, sewed fabrics, analyzed color combinations, chose furnishings and art work, created reproductions of ancient works, and redesigned floor plans. Sylvia’s father instilled in her a respect for the planet while her mother instilled in her the need for in-depth organization in all endeavors. Because of this unusual and creative start in life, she had to return to her first love and create Sylvia Laurmann Designs.
Legal Experience
Sylvia earned a Bachelor’s Degree and completed two years of post-graduate work. For over twenty years she worked for major law firms in Century City in Los Angeles as well as Irvine and Newport Beach. Most of the work centered on trial preparation. This work involved pleadings, discovery, documentation, correspondence, and deposition summaries. She was responsible for court filings and independent legal research. These firms handled complex business litigation and real estate matters.
Later, Sylvia worked for Federal Administrative Law Judges which required a Homeland Security clearance. She assisted the judges in their hearings and reviewed and analyzed medical evidence contained in the official court record and reviewed and processed evidence submitted for inclusion in the record.
Entertainment Management
For over ten years Sylvia managed and promoted singers, songwriters, and producers. A large portion of her time was spent with artists in the studio giving guidance and opinion about production value, song composition integrity, and vocal quality. She reviewed and negotiated recording and publishing agreements as well as prepared itineraries and promotional packages. Songs were placed for writers with such artists as Elusion, Devin, Dawn Robinson and Solonge. In managing new singers and writers she worked with artists and producers such as Chaka Kahn, Robert Palmer, Dr. Dre, Randy Jackson, Marc Nelson, Jennifer Love Hewett, Tim & Bob, Maani Edwards, Oji Pierce and others. Sylvia was a recipient of a Gold Record as production coordinator for Changing Faces.
